Perfume-o-rama

Paging Cleis: My first Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab order arrived yesterday. Whoo! I ordered six perfume samples and they threw in an extra one for free. I had to restrain myself from trying all of them at once. Right now I’m wafting orange blossoms and medicinal herbs around my apartment. Tomorrow I’m going to try the one that’s supposed to smell like a thunderstorm (or maybe the one that’s supposed to smell like the Moroccan desert). This could turn out to be habit-forming…

Woo hoo!! Have fun! I’m curious to hear what you ordered and how you like it. (Feel free to email me if you don’t want to subject your readers to the details.) I find a lot of the oils to be too perfumey for my taste, but I’m still having fun trying things.

Happy to share! (Readers not interested in perfume-related minutiae can stop reading now.) I ordered: Antony, because I like basil (and Antony and Cleopatra is one of my favorite plays); Wilde; Lightning; Catherine, because it sounded lovely and unusual; Wolfsbane, ditto; and Morocco, after reading all the rapturous reviews of it on the forums. They threw in The Unicorn as a freebie. So far I find that Lightning doesn’t seem to work on me (no ozone: what a pity). Wilde I can’t decide if I like or not: the patchouli (I think) makes it kind of soapy, but I like the jasmine and thyme. So far I like Morocco and Catherine best, but Wolfsbane smells really intriguing in the vial. And I’m already making a list of what to try in the next set of samples.

Fascinating! What does Unicorn smell like?

On me? Sticky-sweet fruit candy. Unfortunately.
