Dear Joss Whedon…

…please stop breaking my heart. It’s just not fair. It wasn’t enough that you made me cry, more than once, while Buffy was still on the air; now you have to go and do the same thing with last night’s Angel? And this is the last season before the show ends? That’s even worse. Ow ow ow.

Please come up with a new show, because you’ve spoiled me for most of everything else on TV. By the way, would you by any chance happen to need an underemployed literature Ph.D. to do any scriptwriting for you?

You might like something else, if you’re not already familiar with it. I only saw one of the episodes when it was on the air (I live in a valley, and get zero TV reception), but got the boxed set for Christmas, and have been going through the episodes like candy. Good, good stuff.

Yes, the world is a cold, cruel place. Angel and Buffy are gone, and all they leave me with is Fear Factor and Everybody Loves Raymond.

Sadly, the pendulum has swung from the demonic to “Joan of Arcadia”; it’s sort of the foil or counterpoint to “Buffy” and “Angel.”

Ah, yes, Firefly — I watched a bunch of episodes of it before Fox canned it. Good to know it’s out on DVD now.
But it’s a cold, cruel world indeed. Why do I always get into the good shows relatively late and then only get to enjoy them for a few seasons before they go off the air?

You didn’t cry then? I think it ranks as the best episode in the series.
